Interpretation and Definitions
Interpretation
The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or in plural.
Definitions
For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:
- Account means a unique account created for You to access our Service or parts of our Service.
- Application refers to MyFutureSelf, the software program provided by the Company, available for iOS on the Apple App Store and for Android on Google Play.
- Company (referred to as either "the Company", "We", "Us" or "Our" in this Agreement) refers to MyFutureSelf, Inc.
- Country refers to Ohio, United States.
- Device means any device that can access the Service such as a computer, a cellphone or a digital tablet.
- Personal Data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
- Service refers to the Application or the Website or both.
- Service Provider means any natural or legal person who processes data on behalf of the Company to provide or support the Service.
- Website refers to MyFutureSelf, accessible from myfutureselfapp.com.
- You means the individual accessing or using the Service, or the company, or other legal entity on behalf of which such individual is accessing or using the Service, as applicable.
Collecting and Using Your Personal Data
Types of Data Collected
Personal Data
While using Our Service, We may ask You to provide Us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify You. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to:
- Email address
- First name and last name
- Usage Data
Account and Authentication Data
When You create an Account, We collect Your email address, name, sign-in method (Apple, Google, or email on iOS; Google or email on Android) and a unique account identifier. Accounts are managed through Firebase Authentication, and Your Account data and the content You create in the Application are stored in Google Cloud Firestore, both operated by Google. This applies to both the iOS and Android versions of the Application.
Content You Create
The core of the Service is a personal mentorship experience, and the content You create in it is Personal Data. Depending on how You use the Application, this includes:
- Your conversations with Your AI mentor, in text and by voice
- Your goals, roadmaps and daily intentions
- Your mood check-ins, wellness entries and reflections
We treat this content as sensitive. It is used to provide and personalize the Service for You, and it is not sold or used for advertising.
AI Processing of Your Conversations
To generate Your AI mentor's responses, the content of Your chat messages and voice conversations is processed by OpenAI, our AI Service Provider. Voice audio may be transcribed as part of this processing. OpenAI processes this content on Our behalf to operate the Service; under OpenAI's API terms, content submitted through its API is not used to train OpenAI's models, and OpenAI may retain it for a limited period for abuse monitoring before deletion.
Purchase and Subscription Data
Subscriptions are billed by Apple (on iOS, through the App Store) or Google (on Android, through Google Play Billing). We never receive Your full payment card details; those are handled by Apple or Google. To activate and manage Your subscription, We receive and process purchase information such as product identifiers, purchase tokens, order and transaction identifiers, subscription status and renewal state. We use Service Providers to validate purchases and manage subscription entitlements.
Notifications
If You enable push notifications, We collect a device push token (via Apple Push Notification service on iOS or Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android) and Your notification preferences so We can send You reminders, check-ins and updates You have asked for. You can turn notifications off at any time in the Application or in Your Device's system settings.
Usage Data
Usage Data is collected automatically when using the Service. Usage Data may include information such as Your Device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that You visit, the time and date of Your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.
When You access the Service by or through a mobile device, We may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device You use, Your mobile device unique ID, the IP address of Your mobile device, Your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browser You use, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.
Analytics, Attribution and Crash Reporting
We use analytics Service Providers to understand how the Service is used and to improve it. These providers receive event data, device identifiers and diagnostic information on Our behalf:
- Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (Google) for usage analytics and crash reporting
- Mixpanel for product analytics
- PostHog for product analytics
- AppsFlyer for install attribution, so We can measure Our own marketing
The content of Your conversations, mood check-ins and reflections is not shared with these analytics providers.
Tracking Technologies and Cookies
We use Cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on Our Service and store certain information. Technologies used include beacons, tags, and scripts to collect and track information and to improve and analyze Our Service.
Use of Your Personal Data
The Company may use Personal Data for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain our Service, including to generate Your AI mentor's responses, personalize Your experience and monitor the usage of our Service.
- To manage Your Account: to manage Your registration as a user of the Service.
- For the performance of a contract: the development, compliance and undertaking of the purchase contract for the products, items or services You have purchased, including validating and managing Your subscription.
- To contact You: To contact You by email, push notifications, or other equivalent forms of electronic communication regarding updates or informative communications related to the functionalities, products or contracted services.
- To manage Your requests: To attend and manage Your requests to Us.
- For business transfers: We may use Your information to evaluate or conduct a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of Our assets.
Sharing Your Personal Data
We may share Your personal information in the following situations:
- With Service Providers: We share Personal Data with Service Providers who process it on Our behalf to operate the Service. These include Google (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics), OpenAI (AI processing of conversations), Superwall (subscription and paywall management), Mixpanel, PostHog and AppsFlyer (analytics and attribution). Each processes data only to provide its service to Us.
- With Apple and Google: as billing providers for subscriptions purchased through the App Store or Google Play.
- For legal reasons: if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
- For business transfers: We may share or transfer Your personal information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of Company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of Our business.
- With Affiliates: We may share Your information with Our affiliates, in which case we will require those affiliates to honor this Privacy Policy.
- With Your consent: We may disclose Your personal information for any other purpose with Your consent.
We do not sell Your Personal Data, and We do not share the content of Your conversations, mood check-ins or reflections with third parties for advertising.
Retention of Your Personal Data
The Company will retain Your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. In practice: Your Account data and the content You create are retained for as long as Your Account is active, and are deleted when Your Account is deleted. Analytics and crash data are retained under the retention settings of Our analytics Service Providers. We will retain and use Your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.
Delete Your Personal Data
You have the right to delete or request that We assist in deleting the Personal Data that We have collected about You. There are two ways to delete Your Account and data:
- In the Application: open the Profile tab, tap Settings, then tap Delete Account. Deletion is immediate.
- On our website: submit a request on our Account Deletion page. Requests are processed within 30 days and confirmed by email.
Deletion removes Your Account, profile, goals, roadmaps, conversation history, and mood and wellness entries, and it is permanent. Because subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, deleting Your Account does not cancel an active subscription; cancel it in the App Store or Google Play subscription settings.
Security of Your Personal Data
All data sent between Your Device and the Service, and between the Service and Our Service Providers, is encrypted in transit using industry-standard protocols such as TLS. Data stored in Google Cloud Firestore is encrypted at rest by Google. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but We use commercially reasonable means to protect Your Personal Data.
Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to anyone under the age of 13, and We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If You are a parent or guardian and You are aware that Your child has provided Us with Personal Data, please contact Us and We will delete it. If You are under the age of majority where You live, You should review this Privacy Policy with a parent or guardian before using the Service.
Links to Other Websites
Our Service may contain links to other websites that are not operated by Us. If You click on a third party link, You will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise You to review the Privacy Policy of every site You visit.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update Our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify You of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
